Interior Once you have taken in the spectacular view from the terrace, you can turn to climb the half dozen steps to the front door, which brings you into the impressive hall (approx: 16.5m2). The floor in this room is tiled, and you will see an open fireplace, a beautiful turned staircase leading to the first floor, practical floor to ceiling built-in cupboards and glazed double doors leading to the salon on your right. The salon (approx. 22m2) is on the end of the house and benefits from windows to two sides, creating a delightful bright room with beautiful parquet flooring and an open fireplace. The other side of the hall is the dining room (approx. 21m2) which has the same parquet flooring as the salon and a similar chimney piece in marble. On the other side of the dining room is the fully fitted kitchen (approx. 10m2) with an external door to the terrace. Behind the kitchen is the utility room (approx: 5.5m2) with a shower, basin and loo as well as the washing machine.
On the first floor are three bedrooms, the master (approx: 23.5m2) being double aspect so plenty of light, and two further bedrooms (approx: 13m2 and 11m2) both with far-reaching views down the valley. There is a family bathroom on this floor (approx: 7m2) with a bath, separate shower, basin and WC.
The attic (approx: 43m2) is approached by a normal staircase and, although ideal for storage and for hanging out the washing on wet days, I don't think it would be possible to make a further bedroom up here.
The cellar (approx: 21m2) houses the oil central heating boiler, a wine cellar and storage.
Exterior: Immediately in front of the house is a superb sunny terrace which could provide the perfect place to put a long table for wonderful meals outside. By the gate to the street is the old dovecot which now houses the oil tank (for the central heating) and space to store gardening tools. Out on the street is the garage and a woodshed, which offers further storage and off-street parking for one or two cars. Just across the road is the south-facing garden (967m2) which has been well maintained and is mostly lawn with some mature trees and hedges offering privacy. Plenty of room here to add a kitchen garden if you would like to grown your own fruit and vegetables, and there is a well accessing the running water through the village.
Location - Queaux is a beautiful village with a bistro and an art gallery/café as well as a hairdresser and garage. There is a lot to do in the area, apart from the opportunities offered by the river Vienne which include canoeing, fishing and lovely riverside walks; there are many local markets, restaurants, châteaux and gardens to visit in the vicinity. Just 10 minutes by car will bring you to the market town of l'Isle Jourdain which, besides its breath-taking viaduct over the river Vienne, also has schools, water sports, swimming pool and tennis courts and all the shopping facilities you will need on a daily basis. If you are feeling daring you can do a bungee jump off the viaduct, or if not, you could just watch! The medieval market town of Chauvigny is about 30 km away, where you can explore the castle, ride on the velo-rail and watch the famous ‘Geants du Ciel’, the huge birds of prey who perform for you. Futuroscope is about 50 km away and monkey valley at Romagne, and the dragon land at Civaux are all within an easy drive. Approximately 45-50 km from Poitiers airport, tgv railway station (90 minutes to Paris) and Futuroscope; and 76 km from Limoges airport.
