- Unique Property
A historic residence in the rural area of Wardija surrounded by its own land. A unique residence !
A structurally sound, palatial detached residence comprising two properties merged into one, covering over 11,500 square meters of surrounding land. This amazing residence can be either restored into a beautiful family home or set up as a private luxurious venue for high-end events. The property also benefits from two stables, a `Girna`, a store room, and a number of reservoirs along with a swimming pool permit in hand. A private driveway through the public road leads to a circular parking area and an oversized garage measuring approximately 10x25 meters with internal access to the residence. The property enjoys total privacy, and breathtaking and picturesque views and is located in Malta`s most prominent locations on the island.
Wardija is a hamlet in St. Paul's Bay, Malta. Its name is corrupted from the Sicilian or Italian word guardia, meaning 'to watch'. Although the name of the hamlet has Arabic lexicons, it was probably named later when Maltese, then an Arabic dialect, remained a dominant language. The hamlet is borded by Bidnija, Bugibba, San Martin and Pwales. Several archeological remains are found in the whereabouts, proving that it was inhabited in pre-history and the Roman period, and it has always been mainly a rural village.
A number of knights and noble families built their country residences, originally to be used for hunting and retreats. A number of 19th and 20th-century structures were also erected in the area. Some houses are still owned by the descendants of the original builders, while others are now used for multiple purposes such as private homes, commercial accommodations, events, and weddings receptions.
