Description
Nestled in the picturesque conservation village of Douglas is this wonderful two-bedroom first-floor flat tucked into Elmbank Drive, off Douglas Main Street. The current owners have presented this lovely flat in walk-in condition throughout. As you will see from our photography, you are spoiled by gorgeous countryside views which surround the village and are treated to close motorway links to the M74 for those commuting.
The accommodation in full comprises; a warm and welcoming entrance vestibule with a side window overlooking the rear of the property leading to an internal hallway with a built-in storage cupboard, a fully fitted dining sized kitchen with a range of wall and floor mounted units with plenty of space for storage and additional appliances, a three piece family bathroom with an over bath shower, large lounge with dual aspect windows allowing plenty of natural sunlight to enter from both sides, two double bedrooms which both afford excellent storage space - the second bedroom is currently being used as a dressing room/office space which proves the flexibility of accommodation of the property on offer.
On ground level, you have ample parking space with an EV charger and a trendy gated garden surrounded by timber fencing, which enjoys natural sunlight.
This is a property we highly recommend viewing, situated in a quiet part of the village, just a short walk to the amenities and outdoor walks along the river and the Douglas Estate.
Main Street retains much of its character and is dominated by Old St Bride's Church. St Brides Church was built in the 14th century, and the clock tower houses the oldest working clock in Scotland. With a population of around 1620, the village has local services including a post office, shop, butchers and a primary school.
Secondary schooling is available in Lanark (about 11 miles), with local services including shops and supermarkets. The World Heritage Site of New Lanark (about 12 miles) is an award-winning industrial model village with guided tours of the mill village and a superb riverside walk passing a series of waterfalls (the Falls of Clyde). The Clyde Walkway is a 40-mile-long walk from Glasgow City Centre to the World Heritage Centre at New Lanark, travelling through industrial areas with spectacular historic and modern buildings, with a mixture of urban and rural, making it a delightful walk with a fascinating history.
There are many local walks around the village, including a circular walk into the estate grounds surrounding the old castle site (Douglas Castle), of which only a single tower remains.
There are many interesting walks in the area, including the Hidden Side of the Falls of Clyde, near Lanark (about 10 miles), with gorge cliffs and the ruins of Corra Castle. There are a number of golf courses in the area, with the Douglas Water Course by Lanark (about 4 miles distant) and the racecourse at Hamilton providing regular fixtures.
