Description
Brogden Barn is a delightful Grade II listed link detached barn, believed to date from the early 19th century or earlier and having been sympathetically converted in 1988. It occupies a lovely position off a rural country lane, half a mile to the west of Leeds village and 2.5 miles from the sought after village of Bearsted, with its village green, excellent amenities and station with services to London.
The property sits in very pretty gardens, with a walled courtyard immediately to the west featuring a mature acer and planted borders creating a lovely sheltered spot. The lawned gardens continue and are located to the north of the substantial two/three* bay carport and adjoining workshop. There is a generous paved terrace, fruit trees including apple and pear, a wooded area and a garden shed.
The well presented accommodation featuring exposed timbers and beams, is arranged over two floors. Reception rooms include adjoining dual aspect sitting and dining rooms, the sitting room having a wood burning stove and a flexible TV room/snug with fitted shelving. The kitchen/breakfast room has an extensive range of painted cupboards. Appliances comprise a two oven aga, an electric oven, hob and integral fridge. A walk in pantry with shelving, a WC with plumbing in place for a shower and a utility room completes the ground floor.
Stairs lead up to the lovely first floor landing, a generous space, ideal as a study area. Four bedrooms are served by a family shower room and an en suite bathroom with underfloor heating. There is also a dressing room with fitted wardrobes with could potentially be used as a fifth bedroom. Accessed off the landing is a good-sized airing cupboard. A substantial boarded loft spans the length of the house and provides excellent storage.
*if built-in woodstore is removed a third bay exists
