The Property

Tucked into a prime spot in West Saltdean, this three-storey semi-detached home has been thoughtfully transformed by its current owners to make the very most of its spectacular setting, with far-reaching views across Saltdean and out towards the sea.

From the front, the house is neat and understated, with space to park a couple of cars. But step inside, and it quickly opens up. You're naturally drawn towards the back where the open-plan kitchen and living area stretch out across the rear of the house, filled with light from large windows that frame the ever-changing coastal view.

The space is generous and cleverly zoned. A central half-wall provides a gentle divide between the kitchen and living room. There's stripped wooden flooring underfoot and an open fireplace to keep things cosy on winter evenings. Just off the kitchen is a practical utility room, with access to the garden and side return.

There are two bedrooms on the ground floor. One sits at the front with a bay window overlooking the street, and handy storage beneath the stairs. The second is where the garage once was, now reimagined as a bright home office or additional bedroom. A modern shower room with warm neutral tiles sits alongside a separate WC.

Upstairs, a loft conversion completed in 2016 has created a fantastic principal suite. A calm and private retreat with Velux windows, a large picture window to soak up the view, an en-suite bathroom, and useful eaves storage.

Head down to the lower ground floor and you'll find two more bedrooms, another smartly tiled shower room, and a porch addition off one of the bedrooms that opens directly onto the garden. There's also a large basement room currently used for storage, with potential for future conversion (subject to the usual permissions).

Outside, the garden is tiered and full of opportunity. Two upper patios are ideal for lounging or al fresco meals, while a lower terrace plays host to a large timber outbuilding. A brilliant space for a workshop, garden studio, games room or just extra storage. The views from the top level are wonderful, and there’s plenty of space here for both peaceful moments and family fun.

A Note From The Owners

When we first walked into the house, we were dumbstruck by the view - 270 degrees stretching from the Downs to the sea and along the coast, looking down over Saltdean Oval and the Lido.

We opened up the interior, extended into the roof to make the most of the outlook, and terraced the garden to enjoy the setting even more.

From the front, the house gives little away, but inside it opens up across three sea-facing floors. Whether it’s a bright summer day or a stormy winter night, this home never fails to make us smile.

Located just five miles east of central Brighton it is well-known for its renowned art deco Lido, which has just undergone a multi-million-pound refurbishment. The heart of the suburb is the Oval Park, which features a children’s play area, skatepark, tennis courts, and outdoor bowls green. A tunnel at the end of the park provides convenient access to pebbled beaches, supervised by lifeguards during the summer months. Meanwhile, a clifftop trail offers breathtaking vistas of the sea and extends towards Brighton. The picturesque village of Rottingdean is just a fifteen-minute walk away. The South Downs National Park is accessible to the north of Saltdean. Local amenities, including shops and restaurants, cater impeccably to residents, complemented by larger supermarkets and facilities conveniently located at Brighton Marina, a mere 10-minute drive away.
