Set within the picturesque grounds of a Grade II listed Victorian model farm, The Granary is the largest and, arguably, most characterful of the beautifully converted residences at Highford Farm. With a unique blend of original architectural features and thoughtful modern updates, this spacious 3 Bedroom upper-floor apartment offers a fantastic opportunity as a holiday home or second residence (subject to 12-month holiday usage restrictions).
The property is accessed via an external staircase leading to a welcoming entrance hall. Two generous double bedrooms are positioned to the front of the home, both enjoying open countryside views. The family bathroom is fitted with a freestanding bath, WC and wash hand basin - all presented in keeping with the home’s heritage.
At the heart of the property lies an impressive, open-plan living space. Vaulted ceilings, exposed beams and a striking feature window create a stunning backdrop for family living, with ample room for dining, relaxing and entertaining. A well-equipped kitchen with integrated appliances complements the space.
The master suite is privately tucked away at the far end of the property and boasts an en-suite shower room, utility cupboard and an eye-catching spiral staircase leading to a raised mezzanine area - ideal for reading, storage or simply taking in the ambience.
Outside, The Granary benefits from its own private lawned garden (approximately 100' x 45') with views extending out to the sea, along with a patio seating area perfect for summer barbecues. Two allocated parking spaces are included.
Clovelly is North Devon’s most famous location. Even members of the most Amazonian tribes have an Auntie that visited Clovelly and rode a donkey up one of its steep streets called Up Along and Down Along.
One of the most picturesque villages in the whole country, Clovelly doubles as a working village and fishing harbour, as well as a very successful tourist attraction. It hangs on a 400ft cliff less than five minutes drive from the main road. Follow the Atlantic Highway (A39) from Bideford towards Hartland and Bude. Turn right at Clovelly Cross Garage, this is Higher Clovelly and the road winds down, down past Clovelly Court, the ancient manor house of the estate, and the parish church of All Saints which dates mainly from the 13th century. The author Charles Kingsley lived here as a child over 150 years ago. He returned here to write the novel Westward Ho! And find inspiration for The Water Babies.
The village is well served by the main feeder route across the region leading to Wadebridge in Cornwall to the south-west and to the M5 by Tiverton in the east. A bus service provides access to North Devon’s ‘capital’, Barnstaple. Bus users can also reach Westward Ho!, Bideford, Braunton, Appledore, Croyde, Okehampton, Holsworthy, Great Torrington, Hartland and Ilfracombe.
Directions
From Bideford Quay, proceed towards the Heywood Road roundabout and take the first exit towards Hartland / Bude. Continue through Horns Cross and Clovelly Cross and take the right hand turning onto the B3248 towards Hartland. After approximately one mile, the entrance to Highford Farm can be found between two pillars on your right hand side. Drive down the lane a short distance and turn left into a large courtyard and proceed through the large arch to where the parking space and property will be found on your right hand side.
