Description

**guide price £675,000 - £700,000** Jukes Estate Agents are extremely proud to bring to market this absolutely superb extended 5 bedroom 3 bathroom (2 en suites + 1 family) semi detached property in Old Road, Old Harlow. For sale by way of a conditional sale.*
As you can imagine, I get to see a vast array of properties to describe as part of my duties here at Jukes and it's always a pleasure when you get to write about a property that has been lovingly cared for and thoughtfully designed.
The current owners have lived here for over 20 years and in that time they have extended it, reconfigured it, and decorated it to an extremely high standard.
Whilst they still adore their home, it is time to move to pastures new and make new memories.
Upon entering the property you find yourself in a lovely entrance hall that allows access to the home office / study and the large lounge diner. The entrance hall has a gorgeous wooden floor.
The home office / study is a nice size with large window overlooking the front of the property. From here you can also access the downstairs toilet which is a good size and houses the usual WC & hand basin. In the entrance hall there is also a large cupboard that doubles as a cloakroom.
As you browse through the images we have uploaded, you will see just what a spacious beautiful property this is. As soon as a house hits 2,000 sq ft, you know its a 'chunk' of a property and in this case gorgeous throughout. To be honest, you will find much higher resolution images on our website as the online portals compress them down, so pop over and have a look at much higher definition ones. Back to the description.
The Lounge / Diner at over 47 sq m (470 sq ft) is a monster and anyone (like the current owners) with an eye for laying out a room will have endless fun configuring it to suit them. There are 4 windows and a set of double patio doors that lead into the gorgeous garden so that means oodles of natural light! There is also a feature fireplace which houses a gas coal effect fire and lovely downlights.
The Kitchen / Diner is over 22 sq m (242 sq ft) and is one of the nicest kitchens I have seen for some time. Again, I urge you to look at the images on our website so that you will get a much better idea of the size and quality of this cooking / eating space.
It is, as you would expect, fully fitted and contains all of the usual white goods. There is a double ceramic sink underneath a large window that overlooks the stunning garden. There is a large island with a five ring gas hob. There is a double oven and more cupboard and drawer space than I have seen for ages. If anyone when viewing complains about lack of kitchen storage space, I will send them to their doctors to have their head examined! There is currently a 6 seater dining table and chairs in situ and yet there is still lots of space that could if required be utilised. This area has a high grade wood effect vinyl flooring that looks spectacular. It also benefits from lovely downlighting The whole space lends itself to a farmhouse kitchen and therefore, it is no surprise that there's a split level stable door that leads into the garden.
Off the kitchen we find the larger than average utility room. It has a nicely tiled floor and currently houses a tumble dryer, washing machine and the (these days) mandatory second fridge freezer. There is a full size sink and drainer with storage.
Before we venture upstairs, I would like to take you into the garden.
Often left 'til last when describing property, I know that this gorgeous green space is worthy of a mention far earlier than usual.
There is a large patio area that is perfect for al fresco dining, BBQ's etc. A large area laid to lawn and the most gorgeous established flower beds with mature trees, palms, shrubs, bushes & flowers.
Add to that a good size greenhouse and garden shed and you can start to understand the time and effort that the current owners have put into not just the rear garden but indeed the front garden as well.
The front garden is also a very good size and laid mainly to lawn with established bushes and shrubs. There's a large paved blocked drive that can house 3 / 4 cars. Both gardens have outside electric points and both have garden taps & therefore are easily watered. There is also a good size garage in the front garden and whilst it could easily be converted back as a garage, it has been fitted out as a workshop.
Upstairs we find 5 double bedroom with Bedrooms 1 & 2 both having en suites, a family bathroom and a loft room above bedroom 2 which actually means that bedroom 2 can become a self contained suite!
Bedroom 1 at over 16 sq m (over 170 sq ft) also has a good size en suite with WC, walk in shower and hand basin.
Bedroom 2 is almost 11 sq m (117 sq ft) also has an en suite with the same facilities. However, as previously mentioned, from here you can access the loft room which although not quite finished, is virtually done and this could simply be turned into a mini lounge / tv room. This would be a fabulous room for an older child or young adult.
Bedroom 3 is over 14 sq m (over 150 sf ft) and has large fitted wardrobes.
Bedrooms 4 & 5 are small doubles / large singles.
All bedrooms benefit from good size windows.
There is a nice landing that also leads to the family bathroom. The bathroom consists of a walk in shower, a bathtub and wash basin. It is, as is all the rooms, finished to a high standard.
Apart from being a super large family home, this wonderful property is ideally located for many of Harlow's important amenities:
Primary school 0.68 miles.
Secondary school 0.93 miles.
Nearest bus stop 0.16 miles.
Harlow Mill station with direct routes to London Liverpool St, Stansted Airport & Cambridge 0.24 miles.

This area receives ultra fast broadband.
All major mobile networks receive good strength signal.

So there you have it. A great 5 bedroom family property at over 2,000 sq ft that is within 1 mile of just about every major amenity.
So perhaps the most important question of all is, what is living in Old Harlow and indeed the larger town of Harlow & surrounding villages like? Let's find out:

Living in Old Harlow: A Family-Friendly Haven in Essex

Nestled on the eastern edge of the larger Harlow district, Old Harlow is a charming and characterful part of Essex that offers a peaceful, village-like atmosphere with all the conveniences of a modern town just moments away. With its blend of historical architecture, tight-knit community, and excellent links to both countryside and city, Old Harlow is a highly desirable location for families looking to balance work, leisure, and quality of life.

Character and Community
Old Harlow stands apart from the newer parts of the town, retaining much of its original charm. With pretty period cottages, converted barns, and listed buildings, the area has a distinct personality. The High Street is lined with independent shops, cosy cafes, and traditional pubs, many of which have become popular local gathering spots. There's a real sense of community here, making it especially welcoming for families.

Education and Childcare
For those with children, Old Harlow offers a range of well-regarded primary schools and easy access to several secondary schools in the wider Harlow area. Nurseries and playgroups are plentiful, and parents will find a strong network of family support services and local clubs.

Transport and Connectivity
One of Old Harlow's most significant advantages is its connectivity. Harlow Mill station is within walking distance and provides regular train services to London Liverpool Street in under 40 minutes, making it ideal for commuting parents. Harlow Town station, a short drive away, offers additional options for travel into the capital or further afield. Road links are equally strong, with the M11 just a few minutes away, connecting residents swiftly to London, Cambridge and Stansted Airport.

Amenities in Old Harlow and Beyond
Though smaller in size, Old Harlow has all the essentials close at hand - from a post office and pharmacy to local gp practices and dental clinics. For more extensive shopping, dining, and entertainment options, the wider town of Harlow delivers in abundance. The Harvey Centre and Water Gardens shopping complexes offer high street names, supermarkets, and restaurants. The town is also home to Harlow Leisurezone, a large sports and fitness complex with swimming pools, a gym, and various courts - perfect for active families.

The town centre also boasts Cineworld cinema, soft play centres, trampoline parks, and bowling, ensuring there's no shortage of weekend activities. The nearby Harlow Playhouse is a cultural gem, hosting everything from children's theatre to comedy and live music.

Green Spaces and Outdoor Fun
Old Harlow is surrounded by green spaces and countryside walks. The River Stort towpath is ideal for family bike rides or lazy Sunday strolls, while Harlow Town Park, one of the largest urban parks in the UK, offers animal petting areas, adventure playgrounds, and seasonal events throughout the year.

Just beyond the town, families can explore a host of charming villages like Matching Tye, Hatfield Heath, and Sawbridgeworth - each offering delightful pubs, tea rooms, and rural walks. Audley End House and Gardens, a short drive away in Saffron Walden, is a firm favourite with families, offering grand historic estates, woodland play areas, and interactive experiences for children.

A Place to Grow
Old Harlow offers a rare combination of character, convenience, and community spirit. Whether it's a lazy walk to the local bakery, a short train ride into London, or a family outing to a nearby forest or heritage site, life here moves at just the right pace. For families looking to settle somewhere with space to grow, access to nature, and a warm, village feel - all while keeping one foot in the city - Old Harlow is hard to beat.
