Description
Hunters Crag originally dates back to the early 19th century and is of Georgian heritage which shows in its attractive facade. In about 1982, the property was extended to the house we see today. Over the years the house has been a wonderful family home and tenanted for a period of time.
Wrought iron, double electric gates open into a courtyard with parking and the outbuildings. A pedestrian gate and path leads you to a stable door which opens into the kitchen breakfast room with an oil fired aga with built in cupboards to each side, a range of fitted units, an integrated electric oven with electric hob above and a quarry tile floor. This is a particularly light room overlooking the paddocks situated behind the house and the garden to the side.
The sitting room has an inglenook fireplace with a Clearview stove, exposed beams and an archway through to the dining room boasting glorious views over the paddocks and enjoying an open fire. This room has sash windows and a serving hatch through to the kitchen. An inner hallway provides access into the modern extension which has previously been used as an annexe, as there is a separate entrance via the front door. There are two studies, one of which could also serve well as a snug. There is a separate WC. The secondary sitting room/family room/sun room has large glazed windows with beautiful southern views of the paddock. There is a second Clearview stove which also heats the domestic water. A glazed door leads into a back kitchen/utility with a door opening onto the terrace.
Stairs gently rise to the first floor landing which has a large Velux window allowing in plenty of natural light. The principal bedroom has built in wardrobes and an ensuite bathroom. There is a further bedroom with a separate shower room, two double bedrooms with storage cupboards and an airing cupboard.

The gardens and grounds at Hunters Crag are predominantly to the rear and the side of the house with the outbuildings below. A wrought iron pedestrian gate provides access to the front door off the lane, which has an attractive veranda. To the side of the house is a productive orchard with cherry, pear, apple and greengage trees as well as raised vegetable bed planted with a selection of lettuces & strawberries There is a southern terrace overlooking the paddocks which is ideal for alfresco dining on summer evenings.
A brook separates the lawn area from the paddocks which are bordered with mature trees and hedging providing a natural shelter. The land is well suited for keeping livestock such as horses, sheep, goats and alpacas. The outbuildings comprise of two stables and garage with a lean to. The roof of the stables and garaging is south facing with a 38 square meter surface area, lending itself to a solar energy installation with battery storage for electric cars, heat pump, heat the annex and outbuildings etc. Even a swimming pool supplied with water from your own brook.
To the rear of this building is a large greenhouse stocked with tomatoes, cucumber and lettuces. In addition there is a garden store/workshop, a separate stone workshop with an apex roof, a shippon with a pigsty attached, a garden store/potting shed and a separate log store.
The shippon, log store and pigsty area now have planning permission approved on 12 February 2025 for conversion into an annexe, ideal for a dependent relative or to be used as additional accommodation if required.
