About this property

  • Private garden

Big and bright Victorian four double bed semi-detached house, delivered over three full floors and 1514 square feet. A generous, private and sunny se-facing garden (with side access) of over 80 feet completes the dreamy offering.

Find your new home on a quiet, leafy and residential street (of attractive housing stock), close to several Zone 2 stations and strong bus routes.

Take a few stairs to your front door. A light and high-ceilinged hall is a very welcome beginning. Resting to your left are your formal reception rooms to front and rear, of over 12 feet by 11 feet, and of over 11 feet each way. Crisp white walls, stripped floors and sash windows impress. Lovely box work and shutters feature to each sash, and views are notably pleasing from both: Onto the street, and out to the garden.

Down a few stairs and you have a handy downstairs/guest w.c. To your right.

Your double-aspect kitchen/dining room is straight ahead. On-trend poured concrete impresses to the floor. Architecturally-treated and deftly-extended from its original size, the slick room runs nearly 22 feet - finishing with a cool glazed affair, where you can open the wall-spanning doors to seamlessly blend with the paved area of the garden (beyond this you have a large lawn and well-stocked borders). The fitted kitchen units are a neat, timeless, matt white.

Down to your lower ground floor and you have two respectably-sized double bedrooms, of over 12 feet by over 11 feet, and of over 11 feet by over 11 feet. Both rooms have recessed lighting, white walls, and sisal flooring.

Your first floor hosts the property’s big sash-windowed bathroom (traditional-style sanitary ware and fittings here, plus a modern independent walk-in shower), and two more double bedrooms; these are over 11 feet by over 11 feet, and 11 feet by nearly 17 feet. And both have good storage for clothes to their respective alcoves.

You are incredibly well-connected in this location, between the town centres of New Cross and Brockley. New Cross and New Cross Gate stations are each a nine minute walk (you are just one stop south of London Bridge from New Cross Gate). Both are on the London Overground network. As is Brockley Station (a 12 minute walk). For the DLR/Wharfers, walk to Deptford Bridge in 15 minutes. There are good bus routes, too, on Shardeloes Road and New Cross Road.

Local schools are well-rated and within half a mile of the house these include Myatt Garden, Lucas Vale, Childeric, St James’s Hatcham Cof E and Haberdashers’ Hatcham primaries.

For green spaces, we like Telegraph Hill’s Victorian pair of parks. Fordham Park has a good children’s playground, too.

You are just around the corner from Goldsmiths University and its famous ‘Scribble’ atop the Arts Complex. Gallery-life? Goldsmiths cca is a short walk for exciting contemporary art exhibitions in a former Victorian Baths building.

Local Farmers' Markets are Brockley Market (held in Lewisham College's walled car park - fancier than it sounds!) and one at the lower park in Telegraph Hill. Both are on Saturdays.

Brockley has top spots for coffee, brunch, lunch, dinner and cocktails. We like Browns, Ellary’s, Mauby, Joyce, Sundae and Brickfields in particular. And Brockley’s Rock has award-winning fish and chips. Crofton Park has good places too - like Jerome’s and Malaysian Deli.

In New Cross we like Meze Mangal, Corner, The Rose Inn, The Rosemary, and The Old Library bar (which has regular live music nights).

Deptford is also close - The Dog & Bell, The Watergate and Marcella are especially recommended.

Thames-side Greenwich is walkable as well, for the wonderful unesco World Heritage offerings - including The Maritime Museum, Royal Observatory and Park.

Nunhead and Peckham are also close for further options.
