Beautifully presented chalet style home with stylish interiors, in a charming rural yet accessible location
Description
A charming chalet style property, Barkby was acquired by the current owners in 2006; they undertook a programme of extension and renovation, creating a wonderful home which is mainly arranged over the ground floor. The property has stylish contemporary décor and offers plenty of space for family life and for working from home.
The spacious entrance hall sets the scene, and straight ahead lies the open plan kitchen/dining/family room, which is the heart of day-to-day life at Barkby. It’s an elegant yet comfortable space which is well suited to informal use and entertaining alike. The Hamilton Stone kitchen is extremely well-equipped, with an excellent range of wall hung and under cabinets, including a larder cupboard and a breakfast station, complemented by quartz worktops, and a central island with a wine fridge and a breakfast bar; it is fitted with quality appliances.
The dining area has space for table and chairs and is fitted with a Morsø woodburning stove; the dual aspect family room has plantation shutters fitted at the full height windows.
There is a separate sitting room which has bifold doors opening to the rear terrace, creating a superb space for summer entertaining.
There are three bedrooms on the ground floor, one with an en suite shower room and dressing area; there is a shower room with a walk-in shower. On the first floor are two bedrooms, one currently used as a study, and a luxury bathroom with free standing oval bath. The house offers plenty of storage, with clever understairs drawers and cupboards, fitted wardrobes, a laundry cupboard with plumbing for appliances, and eaves storage.
The property is set back from the road, with hedging and a wide gravelled driveway, offering parking for multiple vehicles ahead of the garage and house. The double garage has an electronically operated roller door, and space for a workbench. The gravelled side return leads around the house to the east facing rear terrace, which has a stone barbecue and space for garden furniture; steps lead down to the lawn, which has a sunken trampoline, and at the far end of the garden is a sundeck, an excellent spot to enjoy the afternoon sun.
