About this property

This well-proportioned three-bedroom maisonette lies on a mid-century estate in Finsbury Park. It sits elevated on the second and third storeys and has a spacious private decked terrace. There are several parks within walking distance, along with plenty of brilliant pubs, restaurants and shops in the likes of Crouch End, Highbury and along Stroud Green Road. Finsbury Park station is around eight minutes away on foot and runs Underground and Thameslink services.

    The Tour

The maisonette's stained-glass front door is on the second floor, via stairs from a communal entrance. It opens to a spacious hall, partly lined with a floral House of Hackney wallpaper. There is also access to a WC from here, along with built-in storage.

Oak floors begin on arrival and spread into the reception room, revealed by a pocket door. Magenta walls bask in the natural light that enters through sliding doors to the south-facing terrace.

A partition wall, fitted with internal glazed panels, separates the kitchen/dining from the living room. The kitchen is fitted with birch ply cupboards finished in alternating sky blue and peach - hues that stand out against pared-back walls washed in 'Aquamarine Pale' by Little Green. A solid ash countertops run beneath a Claybrook white-tiled splashback, and appliances include an AEG hob and Neff oven. The room also has plenty of space for a dining table.

A staircase ascends to the upper level, where three bedrooms emanate from a central landing. Original pine floorboards extend throughout, and each door is topped with an original transom light.

The principal bedroom has a pared-back palette, dual-aspect windows and a generous bespoke floor-to-ceiling shelving and cupboard unit built by a local artisan joinery.

Oriented to face south, the spacious second bedroom has fitted storage and walls in a deep blue hue by Graham and Brown, while the third, quiet bedroom is presently used as an office, with built-in cabinetry and peach-painted walls.

A shared bathroom serves all three rooms and has a bathtub and jewel-like green walls. There is also a utility room on this floor.

    Outside Spaces

The south-facing balcony is a wonderful suntrap with plenty of room to dine outdoors. Brick walls enclose on all sides, offering privacy, and planters line the rear. A large shed provides handy storage for gardening tools and the like.

There is also unallocated on-street residents' parking.

    The Area

Berkeley Walk is well-placed in north London, close to some of its best-loved neighbourhoods.

The greenery of Finsbury Park is a short 10-minute walk away. At its centre is a lovely café with views across the boating lake. There is also an outdoor gym, athletic tracks, a skatepark, a tennis court and a playground. To the north is the Parkland Walk, a nature reserve that traces the route of a disused railway line.

There are some brilliant restaurants nearby, including the beloved Jolene (aka Big Jo), Xi’an Impression, and The Plimsoll - popular for its traditional pub charm, ever-changing menu and signature burger, the Dexter. Lenny’s Apizza at the Bedford Tavern is the go-to pizzeria for classic pies inspired by Connecticut's New Haven pizza scene.

Stroud Green Road is also close by and is home to Itto, Jai Krishna, Pizzeria Pappagone, La Fabrica and brunch spot Common Ground. The Faltering Fullback, a lively local pub that serves delicious Thai food, and Tollington’s Fish Bar, a recent but much-loved addition to the area, are also near. Crouch Hill, home to popular Max's Sandwich Shop, and Crouch End, with its village-like feel, are just beyond.

Just off Blackstock Road are Top Cuvée and BookBar, a bookshop, wine bar and community space that celebrates the social side of reading. Fink's Salt and Sweet lies just off the thoroughfare, and its sister café, Finks Pumphouse, can be found in adjacent Clissold Park. From here, Stoke Newington Church Street - with its pubs, shops and restaurants - can be easily reached.

The much-admired shops and restaurants of Highbury Barn are within easy reach, as well as the green open space of Highbury Fields, with tennis courts, a playground, and a swimming pool. King’s Cross and Coal Drops Yard are also within easy reach.

There are plenty of schools in the area, including Ambler Primary School, Gillespie Primary School, Highbury Fields School and St Mary Magdalene Academy.

Finsbury Park station (Victoria and Piccadilly lines, National Rail and Thameslink) is around an eight-minute walk from the house. It provides quick transport into central London, as well as to Heathrow Airport via the Piccadilly line. There is also easy access by car to the national motorway network, via the A1 and M6.
