Part of a Georgian townhouse in the sought-after Tredegar conservation area of Mile End, the owners have breathed life and serenity into this one-bedroom flat, complete with a rather special, mature walled garden to enjoy the summer.
Brickworks Says
What lies behind the façade of this archetypal Georgian townhouse in Mile End is a wonderful surprise. Fresh, modern and pristine, the flat has been reimagined by the current owners to create the best of urban living with the building ́s heritage in mind.
The living room centres around a cast-iron fireplace, but it’s the sensitively updated column radiators below shuttered sash windows that keep it feeling cosy. The kitchen upholds the flat’s history with a butler sink, which sits alongside a modern breakfast bar for socialising. Cool white is cohesive, amplifying light and radiating calm.
Gorgeous jade green tiles and brushed bronze fittings, including a rain shower, have brought the bathroom up to the latest style standards. The bedroom is a superb spot for getting away from it all, with windows on two sides looking out onto the landscaped garden. Take a seat in one of the two seating areas and enjoy being nestled amongst the cornucopia of mature plants that have taken root—a world away from the buzz just beyond your front door.
Rhondda Grove, in the Tredegar conservation area, has plenty of charm and yet is at the heart of the East End - just under a minute from the tube. The area is a blend of old and new, awash with classic London boozers sitting happily alongside brunch spots, wine bars and bakeries. If you’re looking for a different pace, head to the Mile End climbing wall and sauna or stroll along Regents Canal that runs from Little Venice to the Docklands.
The Owners Say
The flat is such a unique space. We’ve always wanted to live in a beautiful Georgian house and felt so lucky when we found our haven on Rhondda Grove. We spent a long time planning and designing the space, and we have had four beautiful years here. The garden is an oasis of calm, with birds chirping all year round. You’d never know you are moments from the tube.
The location is also perfect; it is close to Victoria Park but also right next to the tube station, with lots of lovely pubs and coffee shops. The street has a real community feel, part of the Tredegar conservation area with trees older than the houses.
We’re so sad to be leaving, but we hope someone else will be as happy as we have been.
