About this property
"We bought this house as our first home, planned to be here for 3-5 years and have stayed for 15. I think that says it all. We absolutely love this area. There is such a wonderful community feel here, as well as great shops, restaurants, theatres and of course beautiful Ashton Court, which you can see at the end of our road. Our children all went to nursery locally and to Southville Primary where we all made great friends. We love being a short walk from the waterfront and the city centre but at the same time being able to escape to greenery so quickly and easily."
Allington Road is a desirable and attractive residential road in Southville, one of the most sought after neighbourhoods in South Bristol. Close by there are two footbridges across the river to reach the Harbourside area of the city notably Wapping Wharf, an area which has fast become one of Bristol’s most iconic and desirable settings for living, eating and socialising. The area around Gaol Ferry Steps is now home to several stylish homes, trendy bars and boutique shops within both Cargo One and Cargo Two, which came as two phases of retail and restaurant space, largely occupied for local independent businesses. Southville itself has long been one of the most popular parts of Bristol to live in. North Street is very nearby and is home to a number of bars and eateries such as The Tobacco Factory, the popular Souk Kitchen, Cor as well as highly regarded cafes such as Sweven and Marks Bread. Crossing the river from Southville, you are just minutes from all Bristol City Centre has to offer including easy access to Temple Meads. For those who work in the city, the commute by foot or bike is short and painless, whilst the journey home after an evening in a city is also straightforward and advantageous on foot rather than negotiating city centre traffic. For young families, this house on Allington Road is within easy reach of two of South Bristol’s most sought after Primary Schools: Ashton Gate (ofsted rated Outstanding) and Southville Primary (ofsted rated Good).
A pretty Victorian house which has been extended at the rear to create a wonderful kitchen/diner/family room as well as into the loft. Downstairs there is a reception room to the front with a period fireplace and south facing bay window. The rear has been extended and opened up to make the hub of the home, with a bespoke kitchen made of tulip wood, original integrated sideboard, Velux windows and bi-fold doors onto the rear garden. There is also a downstairs WC. Up the first floor are three bedrooms and the family bathroom and the loft has been converted with a Dorma into a bedroom with views across Bristol, bathroom and study area. The sunny garden has a raised patio for dining as well as an astro turf lawn and there is also rear access for bikes and foot access.
