A Note from the Homeowners
This home has been in our family for over 40 years. It was originally chosen for its ideal location - close to town yet tucked away on the riverbank. It felt like the perfect place to raise children, giving them the freedom to canoe, fish, and enjoy nature right in their own back garden.
Over the years, we've made countless memories here, from family adventures on the water to evenings spent entertaining on the balcony, waving to passing narrowboats. It's been a peaceful riverside retreat and a truly special place to call home.
Now, as life takes us in a new direction and we move to be closer to work, we’re ready to pass this special place on to someone new. It’s not just a house - it’s a way of life, and we truly hope the next family finds as much happiness here as we have.
Alex’s Best Bits
I genuinely got excited about the opportunity to market this home – not just because of where it is, but because of what it offers. Every property we take on has its own story, but the versatility here, combined with the riverside setting and mooring rights, really stood out to me. It’s such a special area – peaceful, tucked away, and full of life on the water.
Set across four floors, it’s a bit of a tardis – much bigger inside than you’d expect.
On the ground floor, you’re welcomed by a bright, open-plan kitchen and dining area, a flexible space that could be used as a comfy chill-out zone or a more formal dining setup. You’ve got options. This flows wonderfully out to the west-facing roof terrace, a brilliant spot for entertaining or unwinding after a long day in the sun.
The quirky spiral staircase takes you up to three proper double bedrooms, with great views of the river and a smart layout across two floors. There’s a handy second toilet on the first floor – ideal with the main four-piece bathroom tucked downstairs. That bathroom, by the way, is something special, spa vibes, clean, crisp, and finished with a roll-top bath and walk-in shower.
On the lower ground floor, there’s a versatile bonus room, perfect for a movie den, a home office, or even a gym, plus a utility area with double doors leading to the block-paved patio garden. And then there’s the wow factor, your own jetty, with mooring rights!
Just imagine it, stepping out in the morning, hopping onto a paddleboard or into a canoe, and heading upriver to clear your head before the day begins. Or spending the weekend exploring the waterways at your own pace. It’s not just a home, it’s a lifestyle most people only dream of.
You’ve got the river at your back door and town just a short stroll away. In around 15 minutes walking along the towpath, you’re in Reading town centre, The Oracle, Riverside restaurants, or grabbing coffee and groceries. The mainline train station is under a mile away too, making this spot ideal for commuters who still want that sense of peace and privacy.
This well-kept, character-filled family home is ready to move into and we’d love to show you around.
If riverside living, outdoor adventure, and a bit of peace and quiet, all while being close to town, sounds like your kind of balance, then this home might just be the one.
