About this property
Four Bedroom House in the heart of Old Chelsea
Spacious entertaining rooms
Patio Garden and Roof Terrace
1663 sqft (154.5 sqm)
This is a charming Georgian style house, with the great advantage of not being listed, having been built more recently.
The house is very well arranged, with spacious rooms and attractive views, especially to the rear over the gardens of Shrewsbury House. A small patio is supplemented by a west facing terrace on the top floor.
Historical note: Cheyne Row is an historically significant street, situated in the heart of ‘Old Chelsea’. Originally, the land had been part of the Manor of Chelsea. The land and Manor House were purchased by Charles Cheyne in 1657. The street was built in 1708 on land that had been a bowling green belonging to the Three Tuns pub. Charles Cheyne’s son William, inherited the estate. In 1712 he sold the property to Sir Hans Sloane, who is renowned for establishing Chelsea’s Physic Garden shortly after.
