Description
Occupying a wonderful rural position, with far reaching views of the surrounding gently undulating fields, on the edge of the enchanting and picturesque riverside village of Orford – renowned for its medieval castle and the famous Pump Street Bakery – Chantry Drift is a substantial five-bedroom family home set within approximately 1.25 acres of beautiful grounds.
This detached house offers spacious and versatile accommodation with five bedrooms, three reception rooms, and two bathrooms. The attractive building retains many charming features and, though now requiring modernisation, presents a unique opportunity for the new owners to create a superb family home tailored to their tastes and needs.
The gardens lie mainly to the front of the house and offer a sense of privacy and tranquillity. The property also benefits from an outbuilding/workshop, ideal for those working from home, and a garage providing ample storage and parking.
With its generous proportions, idyllic setting, and potential to modernise, Chantry Drift offers a rare opportunity to acquire a special home in one of Suffolk’s most sought-after rural coastal locations.
Location
Chantry Drift is set in one of the very finest settings on the village edge and on the Suffolk Coastline. There are superb far reaching southerly views over The River Ore and the sea. It is remarkably rare to find a property in such a wonderful position with spectacular views of the marshes, river, sea and the castle. The wildlife and in particular birdlife is abundant. There are a variety of beautiful walks directly from the property down to the river and along a range of footpaths across the attractive surrounding countryside. The house is positioned just a short walk from the centre of the village, a particularly attractive village set on the banks of the River Ore. Orford benefits from numerous facilities including a sailing club, two public houses, a hotel & restaurant, a bakery and primary school. A much wider range of shopping and educational amenities can be found in the historic market town of Woodbridge set on the banks of the River Deben and also further south in Ipswich, the county town of Suffolk, which also provides a rail service to London's Liverpool Street Station.
