Brickworks Says
Occupying the raised ground floor of a Georgian townhouse that stands proudly in Hoxton, this one-bedroom flat is a delightful mingling that honours its original bones. It has all the features you'd hope to see—ornate windows, lofty ceilings and a flamboyant ceiling rose—as well as panelling that creates a characterful edge. Modern updates have stayed true to the building's roots, with the new kitchen not looking out of place and the traditional Burlington bathroom fitting right in.
But it's also a pleasure to see the current owners making bold and beautiful design choices. The William Morris wallpaper adds richness, and the original Andalusian floor tiles in the bathroom emit warmth and vibrancy. The terrace, accessed via the bedroom, offers a slice of sunlit seclusion, a wonderful way to start the day or end with a peaceful sundowner.
Once heralded as the epicentre of the creative scene, there's something to tickle everyone's fancy in Hoxton. Foodies will be in paradise with Cub and Kurious Yellow Kafe, whilst cultural enthusiasts can enjoy the Museum of Home and diverse events at Rich Mix or just take in the heady mix of street art and historic charm. There are plenty of opportunities for strolling along Columbia Road Flower Market or nearby Regents Canal or soaking up the vibe by people-watching in Hoxton Square.
The Owners Say
We poured our life savings into this property to make it just the way we like it. For us, it's the little details that mean the most, like the mahogany loo seat and original timber shutters on the front windows. We also adore the southwest-facing terrace. It's a complete sun trap for afternoon sunbathing and a summertime essential.
We also love the quiet street, with bike hangers and newly planted trees. There is also parking outside. We love the local restaurants (too many to mention here!) and the fact that we are only a 30-minute walk to the City and a 15-minute cycle to the West End.
