Ellis Winters are delighted to offer for sale Seven Spires, a substantial home nestled within the stunning open countryside of Cambridgeshire.
This well-maintained property is set in a semi-rural location on the outskirts of Bluntisham, just a short 3-mile drive from the historic market town of St Ives. Positioned on a plot of approximately a quarter of an acre (sts), Seven Spires offers over 2,500 sq ft of spacious and versatile living accommodation. The property briefly comprises four double bedrooms, three modern bathrooms, four reception rooms, a kitchen/diner, and a utility room.
Externally, the property boasts ample off-road parking for several vehicles, as well as a generous and private rear garden with a large patio seating area—ideal for outdoor entertaining. Accessible from the main bedroom is a sizeable balcony, providing unrivalled views over the open countryside.
The current owner has made significant investments in improving the property's energy efficiency. These include brand-new double glazing throughout, the installation of 12 solar panels which feed any unused energy into a storage battery for future use, and efficient air source heat pumps located in the garden, all of which contribute to reduced energy consumption.
A viewing of this truly unique home is essential to fully appreciate the expansive space on offer, as well as the lovely countryside views Seven Spires provides.
Homeowner View **
We moved from a village setting where concerns about neighbouring building extensions and in-fills were common.
Seven Spires, being a stand-alone' property, offers a true sense of space, freedom, and proximity to nature. It also provides darker skies, ' perfect for stargazing at night.
We love the uninterrupted views of sunrises and sunsets, along with a sunny, private back garden in the summer. The internal and external spaces are perfect for entertaining family and friends, offering plenty of room to spread out.
The previous owners converted the garage into an additional reception room (which could serve as downstairs living if needed, as it is adjacent to a shower room). They also had planning permission (now lapsed) for a property extension, which could have added extra rooms and/or garage space.
Since living here, we've replaced some windows and doors. The heating system has been upgraded with the installation of an air-source heat pump as the main heat source. Additionally, photovoltaic panels have been installed on the roof to charge a storage battery, which supplements our electricity supply. The log burner in the lounge remains in place, providing warmth for cosy winter evenings.
Although we're in a rural setting, fibre optic cable has been installed directly to the property, offering fast Gigabit broadband speeds for home office work or gaming.
Bluntisham has a welcoming, friendly community, with many clubs, pubs, restaurants, play areas, cafes, gyms, a sports centre, and doctors' surgeries nearby. There are also good local and independent schools within easy reach.
St Ives, with several supermarkets and a guided bus route to Cambridge, is just 5 minutes by car, making access to London and beyond easy. Similarly, Huntingdon train station is only 15 minutes away, as is the local hospital.
This area boasts a wealth of outdoor spaces, including National Trust properties, rspb reserves, and other fascinating places to visit, such as well-stocked farm shops and local zoos.
For us, personal health reasons are the motivation for selling but Seven Spires will be sadly missed.
