Description
Mead End House is a pretty detached family house, thought to date back in part to about 1830, with a more recent extension in 2007. The house is not listed and stands on the edge of the village, with gardens and the River Chalke on its boundary. The property lies in a Conservation Area which protects the wider area from extensive development.
Extending to just over 2,300sq ft, Mead End House provides a great balance of rooms on the ground floor, with a superb dual aspect sitting room offering a large inglenook fireplace with log burner and French doors out to the side garden. The kitchen is fitted with ‘shaker style’ floor and wall-mounted units, with an induction hob and integrated fridge/freezer. It opens into the stunning glazed dining room, built in 2007, with a vaulted ceiling and offering a lovely view over the garden, with full width bi-folding doors. The utility/boot room has a door out to the garden.
There is a family room, with Amdega conservatory off with a stone-flagged floor and 180 degree views of the garden. The study is fitted with book shelves, and overlooks the entrance in to the property. A shower room with WC lies off the entrance hall, with stairs up to the first floor. There are four bedrooms which share a family bathroom, with separate walk-in shower.
Approached off the track into a wide gravelled parking area, Mead End House offers immediate grounds of just over 0.4 acre, abutting the River Chalke on one side. There is plenty of lawned garden, with a raised area of terrace providing a quiet seating area. A terrace wraps around two sides of the house providing south and west facing sitting areas.
The oak framed outbuilding offers a secure garage and open carport, with studio/home office above and shower room at one end. There is a covered log store to the rear.
Lot 2
Located on the northern side of the track and separate from the main garden, a further area of garden extends to about 0.22 acre, with level lawn, a boules pitch and alfresco dining area. There is a covenant restricting development of this area of land.
Lot 3
Lot 3 comprises a field adjoining Lot 2, with separate gated access off the track, extending to about 3.7 acres, running parallel with the stream.
