Charming former farmhouse in the heart of this popular Dorset village.
Description
A period farmhouse understood to date from the 1790’s which was completely renovated in 1999 when the farm buildings in the courtyard were converted to residential use. The house has handsome elevations of render, brick and flint under a tiled and slate roof and offers exceptionally spacious accommodation with a versatile layout arranged over three floors. There are three generous reception rooms that also intercommunicate making them perfect for entertaining, and a large through kitchen breakfast room. Each of the four bedrooms has a bath or shower room, including the spectacular main suite which occupies the whole second floor. The Farmhouse has been well maintained by the current owners over the last 26 years, and it is presented in good decorative order. The house is not listed and unusually for a village setting has the benefit of mains gas fired central heating and mains drainage.
The front door with canopy porch over leads into the entrance hall with guest cloakroom off. The sitting room has a feature brick and timber wall with fireplace, and a gas fired stove. The dining room also has a brick and timber feature wall and fireplace with gas fired stove. Both rooms have double doors that open into the impressive family room running across the rear. This bright room has twin bay windows, French doors to the terrace, and roof lights. The through kitchen/ breakfast room has French doors onto the rear terrace and is attractively fitted with a range of units with Corian and granite surfaces including two dresser type units and a central island. A tiled recess houses the gas fired Aga, and in addition there is a Neff double oven, combi microwave, gas hob, dishwasher and wine fridge. The utility room has further storage cupboards, a sink and plumbing and space for washer and dryer.
From the hall, a staircase leads up to the first floor landing with linen cupboard. There are three double bedrooms on this floor all with fitted wardrobes. Bedroom two has a stylishly refitted shower room with Porcelanosa tiles, bedroom three has an en suite bathroom with bath and shower, and bedroom four, used as a study, has an adjacent bathroom. The main bedroom suite occupies the whole second floor and includes the bedroom with feature window extending into the roof apex, a dressing area with built in cupboards and the elegant bathroom with freestanding claw foot bath.
Outside
The brick paviour driveway extends across the front and around to the side, providing parking for a good number of cars, and leads to the detached Double Garage. The delightful secluded rear garden enjoys a sunny west aspect and has a large paved terrace running across the rear, perfect for summer entertaining. The garden has been attractively landscaped on several levels with further terraces and lawns. The gardens are mature and well-stocked with a wide variety of colourful shrubs, herbaceous plants and hedging providing a green backdrop. There is a summerhouse and a timber shed.
