Hoffman Square stands on a site steeped in more than 300 years of history. Originally Aske’s Hospital, founded in 1691, the building was funded by silk merchant Robert Aske and designed by Robert Hooke, the visionary architect and scientist. In the early 2000s, the building was sensitively restored and converted into what is now Hoffman Square. The project was celebrated with the Britannia Design Award in 2002 for Best Restoration and Conversion, recognising the care taken to preserve its architectural heritage.
