Historic Building
Stunning cliff top apartment with large balcony offering panoramic sea views & parking!
Miles & Barr are delighted to market this unique apartment which is positioned in a historic building strategically positioned on the top of the cliff overlooking the channel and across to France. It also has excellent views of the Folkestone Harbour. The elevated private balcony offers some of the best views in the area from sun rise to sun set whilst being above the road for privacy. "London House" was built just before the First World War and there is more of its history to follow. The building has been recently converted into three apartments by the current owner who has created three immaculate homes with new electrics, new plumbing and boiler. Finished to the highest of standards with brand new kitchen & bathrooms presented in turn key condition.
The property is accessed by its own private entrance on the side with a unique stone staircase which leads to the main living accommodation on the first floor. The accommodation offers two large bedrooms, both with sea views - the master comes with a balcony and en-suite bathroom. There is a large living room at the front which has French doors to provide access onto the large front terrace with space for sun loungers, tables & chairs, all overlooking the Channel. To the side of the property and protected by large gates is the off street parking for two. The property is a landmark atop the famous White Cliffs and would be a great holiday home or quiet home by the sea.
Capel-le-Ferne is a 5 minute journey to Folkestone station by car to access the high speed rail links to London in under an hour. There are also lots of trails and wilderness walks in and area, including a trail that starts beside the property. Opposite is the Cliff Top Café, a popular little café where visitors sit and enjoy the views with a cup a coffee or a piece of cake while enjoying the peaceful surroundings.
London House History: Construction of London House began just before the First World War, of York stone marble and concrete. It is widely believed that a German spy used the property to record Royal Naval shipping in the channel. During the second world war, it was requisitioned and became RAF London House to provide early warning of air attacks and the V1 rockets. The personnel, upwards of 30, comprised various nationalities and up to 1998, the current owner hosted an annual reunion at the property. Furthermore, the soe used the property as a command centre to send spies to the Pas-de-Calais from nearby Hawkinge airfield.
