The home at a glance
This former school was originally built in 1849, during the earlier years of the Victorian era and, as an homage to its namesake, the cottage has a dedication to "Victoria, Queen and Empress" above its main entrance.
A vibrant blue front door and window frames beautifully compliment the richly coloured red sandstone which, for centuries, has been used in Herefordshire buildings and is synonymous with the local area.

A step inside
The main entrance leads into an enclosed porch. Beyond here, there is an open-plan living arrangement. Plenty of light pours into the dual-aspect space, and an exposed stone wall grants a particularly pleasing feature.
The fitted kitchen includes shaker-style units, a Neff cooker and hob, a pull-out larder and a breakfast bar. There is space and plumbing for a dishwasher and room for a fridge/freezer. In addition, there is space and plumbing within the cupboard under the stairs for a washing machine.
A staircase leads to the top floor and this includes two double bedrooms, both of which include pitched ceilings with Velux windows and exposed beams. One also boasts an en-suite shower room, whereas the other carries a conventional window to allow more natural light to cascade in. The bathroom includes a three-piece suite with a heated towel rail.

Location
Bridstow is a small village around two miles from Ross-on-Wye's town centre. This offers an assortment of shops, independently owned boutiques, a range of restaurants, welcoming pubs, various leisure facilities, plus a network of country and riverside walks.
The village has a lovely community; it contains a village hall - which acts as a headquarters for various groups such as the Rainbows, Brownies, Guides and the wi, and various activities are also staged there, such as barn dances and whist evenings. There is also a primary school, and this venue is used as a rehearsal space for a local women's choir, the Border Belles. The village also boasts good access to a network of excellent transport links. The A49, the main road which connects Ross-on-Wye with Hereford, is near Victoria House. It is also worth noting that, at Ross-on-Wye, motorists can join the A40 as well as the M50.
