A charming stone-built detached home situated on the edge of the sought-after village of Harome

Description
Situated at the edge of the picturesque village of Harome, Red Roof is an attractive stone-built detached house dating back to circa 1930. The property, which occupies a generous plot, combines the charm of a traditional home with the potential to create a bespoke living space to suit contemporary tastes.

Internally, the accommodation is spacious and offers a well-proportioned layout, providing a blank canvas for those looking to restore and refresh the property to its full potential. Currently in need of modernisation throughout, this is an ideal project for those wishing to invest in a property that can be transformed into a truly wonderful home.

The property is entered through a beautiful hallway with original tiled flooring, the two principal reception rooms sit to the front of the property, both with bay windows. Continuing through the ground floor there is a generous kitchen, separate utility and two equally proportioned bedrooms, with original fireplaces, served by the house bathroom. The principal bedroom is situated on the first floor alongside bedroom two and a WC.

The house enjoys a peaceful setting, with views across the surrounding countryside, yet remains within easy reach of the village’s local amenities and nearby market towns. The area offers a tranquil lifestyle with the benefit of convenient access to major transport links, providing excellent connections to the wider region.

Externally, Red Roof is set within a substantial garden, providing ample space for extension or landscaping (subject to the usual planning consents). A gravelled driveway provides ample parking alongside a garage.

Location
Harome is one of the prettiest and most sought after North Yorkshire’s villages, and in 2023 this tiny village was named one of the 'poshest' in the UK by The Times. Set at the foot of the Moors and around 2 miles east of the popular market town of Helmsley and 24 miles north-east of York. It is home to The Star Inn, with its Michelin Starred Restaurant with country hotel. Elsewhere are several listed buildings and an idyllic duck pond, overlooked by the award winning Pheasant Hotel.

Just over two miles away is the award winning Beadlam Grange Farmshop and Tea room with a butchers, delicatessen and greengrocery including a toddler play area.

Helmsley (2.7 miles) is a fabulous town with a weekly market and an excellent selection of independent, local shops including clothes stores, a doctor’s surgery, delicatessens, cafes, restaurants, hotels, a spa and a local brewery.
