Burnside is a traditional single storey stone built former croft house peacefully situated in the crofting township of Halistra on the Waternish Peninsula. With its elevated position giving far reaching coastal views and sweeping moorland behind the cottage provides a rare opportunity to own a delightful 3 bedroomed home on the Isle of Skye.
The original croft house forms the heart of the property and accommodates the cosy vaulted sitting room with wood burning stove, which enjoys a view over Lochbay to the front and a second bedroom. Sympathetic extension to the side and front of the property accommodate the ample kitchen/dining room and additional bedrooms and bathroom.
Burnside has been run as a successful holiday let for the past twelve years and the contents may be available by negotiation (with the exception of a small number of personal items). It would equally make a lovely family home.
Burnside is accessed from the township road by a private driveway with ample parking space.
The cottage sits in a small garden which has a lawned area bound by mature herbaceous flower beds. There is also a patio area to enjoy the warm summer evenings and soak in the spectacular coastal views over the isles of Clett, Mingay and across the Minch to the Outer Isles.
Location:
Halista is a peaceful crofting township on the Waternish Peninsula away from the main tourist routes on Skye. The Thomas Telford designed village of Stein is only 3 miles away and has a hotel/pub, a Michelin starred restaurant and a public boat slip.
There is a primary school at Knockbreck just a short distance away and with secondary education at Portree High School. The thriving community village hall, which is withing walking distance, offers a wide range activities and events.
Further facilities are available in Dunvegan, around 8 miles away, including a modern medical centre, a variety of shops, cafes, restaurants and hotels and the world famous Dunvegan Castle, home of the Clan MacLeod.
Portree, the capital of the island, is 24 miles South East and has all the facilities you would expect in a small town.
