This cottage is both quirky and deceptive in size, having been extended over the years to create a fantastic sized family house. The ground floor offers excellent living space, with a large living room, drawing room and family room. Character features are in abundance, with brick fireplaces and original exposed beams throughout.
There is a handy cloakroom and entrance hall with space for coats and shoes. The beautiful kitchen is fitted with a generous range of shaker-style units and opens into a lovely breakfast room complete with vaulted ceiling and bi-folding doors leading out on onto the patio and garden. The combination of the bi-folding doors and vaulted ceiling with skylights result in a light and airy room bathed in natural light.
Beyond this is the self-contained annex which be accessed via the breakfast room, or via the garden. The annex comprises kitchen, lounge and spiral staircase to bedroom 5, along with an en-suite bathroom.
On the first floor four other bedrooms are found and all of which ooze character and have their own individual charm. There is also the family bathroom. The master bedroom is a good size, with built-in wardrobes and an en-suite.
With a south-west aspect the rear garden is real suntrap. The pretty garden is mostly laid to lawn, with planted borders. There is also a good-sized patio for entertaining. To the front of the property is a gravel driveway providing off-street parking for multiple vehicles.
West Clandon is a popular village that has appeared in the Doomsday Book listed as Clanedum. There is a legend that a dragon once blocked the route to West Clandon and in commemoration there is a dragon cut into the chalk face of a quarry. The village has two pubs, a Saxon church, village school as well as a British Legion and a garden centre at Clandon Park (National Trust property and the former home of the Earl of Onslow). Local shops can be found at Ripley, Send and Merrow with a supermarket at Burpham.
Guildford Town Centre for more comprehensive facilities lies about 4 miles to the southeast. Rail services are available at West Clandon to London Waterloo in about 50 mins or the same at Woking for about 22 mins.
The A3 is a few minutes’ drive away and links to J10 of the M25 for links to London & Heathrow or anticlockwise for Gatwick which is about 20 miles distance. The area is surrounded by National Trust and farmland which is ideal for walking, riding and cycling with stunning views from the North Downs to the South Downs can be found at Newlands Corner.
