Cute as a button, this characterful cottage makes the perfect home situated in the popular village of Box. Tucked away off any busy roads, Market place is centrally located and walking distance to all the village amenities. As you walk through the front door, the cosy sitting room sets the tone for this Period home. A Bath stone fireplace gives a central focus and a log burner gives that nice cosy feel when lit. Some storage has been built in and there is room for a sofa and other furniture. Walk on through to the kitchen, which is small but perfectly formed with wood worktops set over shaker style units. Additional understairs cupboards offer useful storage and a stable door opens up into the garden,
Typically steep and windy cottage stairs bring you up to the first floor, where the main bedroom is a lovely double room, complete with built in wardrobe and an original stone fireplace. A large sash window keeps the room lovely and bright. The bathroom is set just off the landing and offers a lovely period feel suite with a shower over the bath, some hidden storage and is a good size overall.
The gardens to the rear are a real delight, with a patio area for seating, a level lawn with flower borders and hedges to the sides. A pretty and sunny space where cottage garden plants can spring into life throughout the year. Surprisingly open and private the outdoor space also includes a stone and tile built garden outbuilding, which makes a great garden shed. With a South easterly aspect, this garden is the perfect spot for a morning cuppa and to relax in the sun later in the day. As with most older cottages, there is a right of access across neighbouring properties allowing everyone access to the front.
Parking is on street in the Market place or can also be found very close by in a small, free car park.
This super cottage would make the perfect first home, downsize, holiday/ buy to let, or "Pied a Terre". Located right in the heart of this popular village and with easy access to the Georgian city of Bath or the mainline rail station at Chippenham, this could be your perfect base on the edge of the Cotswolds.
Enjoy the convenience of village living with a plethora of local amenities within walking distance, including shops, Cafe's, a sought after school, doctors surgery, chemist and recreational facilities including a large village hall, bowls club, playing fields and park. Enjoy many of the village community activities throughout the year from May Fetes through to the annual Box rocks charity music event at The Queens Head. An essential and arguably one of the best Indian restaurants for miles is found at The Bear and with a strong arts and music scene, there is sure to be something for everyone to enjoy. In addition there are miles of countryside walks, cycle ways and woods to walk the dog or get some fresh air with the kids. The Georgian city of Bath is located just 6 miles away and regular bus services run through the village to connect you very easily. In addition in the other direction are Corsham and Chippenham where a mainline rail connection will take you to London Paddington in just over an hour. Road access to the M4 is easy via J17 or J18 at Bath depending on your onward direction. From a convenience perspective coupled with a local village setting, I really am struggling to find fault with Box village.
