Wanlockhead has a population of around 150 residents and is the highest village in Scotland at a height of 1531ft above sea level. The village has several tourist attractions including a Lead Mining Museum and one of the best-preserved beam engines in Europe. The village is on the Southern upland Way, which has a designated footpath stretching 212 miles from the Irish Sea to the North Sea. The village also has the local Inn, the highest pub in Scotland, and with various clubs including skiing, fishing and a Silver Band.
