Saunton is a small village lying 2 miles west of Braunton and is known for its long stretch of surfing sandy beach (believed to be approximately 3 miles long), perfect for wind surfing, surfing, paddle boarding, bodyboarding, swimming etc and dogs are allowed on the beach all year around. The beach connects to the unesco Reserve sight of Braunton Burrows as well as Crow Point to the far end and it has been used as a background for many music videos and films. Saunton Golf Course with it’s two championship links courses is also in Saunton and both the Golf Club and Saunton Sands Hotel, along with the Beachside Café and Grills offer places to eat. Saunton also has a Landeez all terrain wheelchair which enables those with disabilities to be able to enjoy the beach as well. At the entrance to the Car Park (on the B3231) is a bus stop which has buses running to Croyde and Georgeham in one direction and to Braunton, Barnstaple and beyond in the other. There is also a pretty church in the village and many scenic walks.
At the main set of traffic lights in the centre of Braunton Village turn left signed Saunton and Croyde. Follow this road passing Lobb Field caravan park on your right in approximately 1 mile. Continue past the right hand turn to Lobb then take the next right leading to the hamlet of West Saunton (not signed). The parking area is immediately on your left and the two allocated spaces are the last two spaces.
