Description
Wood House is an impressive detached village house with origins dating back to the late 18th century. The property underwent a complete renovation in 2007 and now offers superb living accommodation arranged over two floors whilst still retaining the wonderful period features that characterise the property.
The layout is particularly spacious with three generous principal reception rooms to the ground floor, all with oak flooring, and an impressive open farmhouse style kitchen with French doors leading out to the patio. All practicalities have been considered with a separate utility room, WC and rear porch opening to the side of the property.
A striking wrought iron ornate staircase leads to the first floor where there are six bedrooms, two of which are en suite and the remainder served by a four piece bathroom suite.
The rear garden has been beautifully designed with a central water feature surrounded by lawns, mature trees and shrubbery. A stone paved patio provides an excellent outdoor seating area.
The property benefits from ample off street parking and a double garage.
Location
The village of Thornton le Clay shares many of its facilities with neighbouring Foston, and together they offer a primary school, church, chapel and a village hall. Further facilities can be found in Sheriff Hutton (three and a half miles).
Thornton le Clay lies to the north east of York easily accessible from the A64 York to Malton trunk road. The A64 bypasses York on the way to the A1M, Leeds and the national motorway network. The Vangarde Shopping Park and Monks Cross, with their multiple retail outlets, is just over nine miles away.
The surrounding countryside is some of the prettiest in the county, with the Howardian Hills and Castle Howard around 5 miles away, and the rolling countryside of the Wolds and Yorkshire coast to the east.
The historic City of York (around 12 miles away) is easily accessible and has a wide range of amenities to offer such as fine dining, shopping and historic sites such as York Minister. There are also a wide range of secondary, state and independent schools to choose from.
