History of the property:
Site dates back to Anglo Saxon settlements. Original owner John Dutton 1840. Passed to his son Ralph Dutton mp. Responsible for railway lines - Chairman of London/South Western Railway company. Property changed in to the ownership of Alexander Wilson Wood mp (bred fox for fur industry), Lord Newton and Oliver Cutts. After his ownership the house was split up by the then owner Derek Smith. Churchill visited between the wars on fishing trips. In wwii the property was taken over as a billet by Canadian soldiers. In the 60s it was taken over by International Athletics as a training centre - resulting in a number of medals in the 1964/68 Olympics. Previous owner to the Jones's was Lynn Seymour the ballerina. After separating from her husband she tried to breed ducks - unsuccessful so went bankrupt and the house was in a derelict state when the current owners took over.
